Save up to 20% when you buy online
Excludes optional extras. Offer is available on new policies only and not available to customers renewing existing cover. Offer is subject to minimum premium and may be withdrawn at any time.
As part of your cover, you'll be given somewhere to stay if your home is uninhabitable after serious damage.
Change your excess
Our minimum excess is £100 for buildings insurance and £100 for contents insurance. You can reduce your premium by increasing your excess (up to an amount of £850), but you would need to pay more after a claim.
Flexible claim service
If you have to make a claim, you can choose to take a cash or cash equivalent (store vouchers or cards) settlement instead of replacing an item or having the item repaired (The amount you receive will reflect any discounts we may have been given for a replacement or repair).
Building and contents claim
If you make a claim for something that affects both buildings and contents we will only apply one excess which will be the higher of the two (the excess for subsidence, heave or landslip is fixed at £1,000 and the excess for escape of water will be at least £250).
Cover for contents in your garden (except valuables, money and bikes, where individual limits apply).
Pay by instalments – at no extra cost
You can spread the cost of your home insurance policy over 11 months. You'll pay by Direct Debit – and we won't charge you more to do this.
If you add home emergency cover to your policy, you'll have extra protection against household emergencies such as plumbing problems caused by leaking pipes or your boiler breaking down. You can also add legal expenses cover worth up to £50,000.
Premier or standard home insurance cover?
With premier home insurance from M&S Bank, you get extensive protection – including cover for:
- accidental damage – from paint spills on the carpet to knocking a nail through a pipe
- storm damage to gates and fences
- accidental damage to freezer contents
- visitors' belongings
- students' possessions – when your children are at university or college
- a dependent relative's possessions – when they're in a residential care home
You'll pay less for our standard home insurance, but your cover limits will be lower – and you won't automatically get the same level of protection against accidental damage.
