“Paint your walls white so light
is reflected around the room”
Exposure to natural light makes people feel happier. That's because it stimulates the brain's production of seratonin, a brain chemical that helps to regulate our moods. A simple way to increase the light levels in your home is to paint your walls white so light is reflected around the room. Or use mirrors to do the same thing.
When we see sharp, angular objects they trigger a reaction in the part of our brain that registers fear. Subconsciously, we're wary of them. Curved forms don't have this effect: we naturally find them more calming. To soften the angles in your home, introduce curves wherever possible: curved chair backs, rounded vases, circular handles on cupboards.
