Postal delays

To help you avoid any additional charges to your account please see below some information which may be useful if there are ongoing postal delays.

Payments

If you pay your account by cheque please allow more time for your cheque to reach us. To avoid a late payment fee and any impact to your credit file, you may wish to consider alternative payment methods.

Statements

Any ongoing postal delays may impact the delivery of your credit card statement. This would mean that you have less time between receiving your statement and the payment date. Alternatively, you can access your account online and view your statements either through Internet Banking or the M&S Banking App*.

If you’re not yet registered for digital banking, you can register now.

Ways to pay your credit card by Direct Debit

Set up a Direct Debit

You can set up a Direct Debit through Internet Banking.

Sign in or Register

A step by step guide to setting up a Direct Debit in Internet Banking:

  1. Once you've logged into Internet Banking, select ‘M&S Credit Card' in the ‘My Accounts' section.
  2. Under ‘Make a Payment' select ‘Set up a Direct Debit'.
  3. Here you can choose to set up the Direct Debit online or you can download a paper mandate to return by post.
  4. If you choose to set up the Direct Debit online, all you need to do is complete the online form and click 'Submit'.

Alternatively, if you’re not yet set up for Internet Banking you can complete our Direct Debit form.

Set up Direct Debit form (link opens in a new tab)

Please ensure you continue to make payments until you receive confirmation of your first Direct Debit date. A fixed repayment will be for an amount set by you and can be changed at any time. If the minimum payment due is greater than this amount, we will claim the full minimum payment. If your statement balance is lower than your fixed amount, we will only claim the balance on your statement.

Amend your Direct Debit

Credit card customers now have the option to change their Direct Debit from full to minimum payment.

To request this, you can fill out our online form. You will receive an automated email to confirm it’s been received and we will be in touch as soon as possible to let you know when your Direct Debit has been changed.

Important information

  • If you have a Direct Debit set up to take your minimum payment, the payment shown on your statement (or your remaining balance if lower) will be collected automatically. If you’ve made any extra payments, we’ll assume you want to pay more than the minimum amount (or any fixed amount you’ve asked us to collect) and won’t adjust your Direct Debit.
  • If you only make the minimum payment each month, it will take you longer and cost you more to clear your balance.
