The Historical Yield (for the Worldwide Managed Fund, UK Selection Portfolio and UK 100 Companies Fund) is the net distribution amount declared over the past twelve months as a percentage of the mid-market value of the fund (as at the date of calculation).

The Distribution Yield (for the High Income Fund) is the amount that we estimate the Fund will distribute over the next twelve months as a percentage of the mid-market value of the fund (as at the date of calculation).

Things you need to know

The value of investments (and any income received from them) can fall as well as rise and you may not get back what you invested. For the Worldwide Managed Fund and High Income Fund this can also happen as a result of exchange rate fluctuations as they have exposure to overseas markets. Most investments should be considered as a medium to long term commitment, meaning you should be prepared to hold them for at least 5 years. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance.

High Income Fund

Changes are due to be made to the High Income Fund with effect from 24 August 2021.

What are the changes?

Currently, the Fund can invest up to 10% of its value in other funds that in turn invest in bonds and other assets such as cash and derivatives. At the discretion of the Investment Manager, this will increase to allow the Fund to invest up to 20%.

Additionally, the Fund will now be able to invest in other funds managed by Marks and Spencer Unit Trust Management Limited (‘MSUTM’) or its associates, which includes other funds managed by the HSBC Group.

The Fund will also be able to invest in funds that have the ability to use derivatives for wider investment purposes (other than efficient portfolio management), provided the use of other funds is consistent with the overall risk profile of the Fund.

Why are we making these changes?

We believe the changes have the potential to improve outcomes for investors by providing additional flexibility to respond to market conditions which should help the Fund to achieve its investment objective and manage its investment risks.

How do the changes affect the fund’s investment objectives?

The investment objective and overall risk profile of the Fund will remain unchanged.

How much will it cost to make these changes?

The ongoing charges figure (OCF) for the Fund will increase.

The current OCF is 0.92% (variable) and may increase to an estimated 0.96% (variable).

A revised Prospectus and Key Investor Information Document will be available from 24 August 2021.

The Fund's objective is to provide a high level of income. We define a high level of income as equal to, or in excess of, the average yield of the funds in the Fund's Investment Association sector, the Strategic Bond sector, over a three year period.

The Manager operates a single pricing methodology for this Fund and may charge a Dilution Levy, to protect your investment from the costs of buying or selling investments that result from investors buying or selling Units. The amount of such Dilution Levy is calculated by reference to the estimated costs of dealing in the underlying investments, including any dealing spreads, broker commissions, transfer taxes and stamp duty. Investors buying Units may be charged a levy in the region of 0.15% of their contribution. Investors selling Units may be charged a levy in the region of 0.05% of their proceeds. When the Manager applies a Dilution Levy on a particular investor or group of investors, this is paid into the Fund and helps to protect your investment from the costs of resultant transactions.
