What you’re going to need to register

To register for Internet Banking, you’ll need to have some things to hand.

If you have an M&S Credit Card you’ll need:

If you have an M&S Everyday Savings Account you’ll need:

  • your account number and sort code
  • your telephone security number – this may have been set up if you applied over the phone or in branch, if not call 0345 600 5860. Lines are open 8am-8pm. Calls are recorded
  • your email address

Follow the step by step instructions below to help you get registered for Internet Banking

1. Account details

On the account details page, you'll be asked to input some information.

If you have an M&S Credit Card:

  • enter your date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
  • enter your 16 digit card number e.g. 5299 1122 3344 5566

If you have an M&S Everyday Savings Account:

  • enter your date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
  • enter your sort code and account number e.g. 11-22-33 12345678

2. Validate details

You'll then be asked to complete some additional information, just to help us validate your card details.

If you have an M&S Credit Card:

  • enter your 3 digit security code. This is the last 3 digits on the back of your card
  • enter your credit limit. Your credit limit is shown on your welcome letter or your latest statement
  • enter your card expiry date (mm/yy)

If you have an M&S Everyday Savings Account:

  • enter your telephone security number

3. Validate more details

You'll then be asked to complete some additional information, just to help us validate your card details.

If you have an M&S Credit Card:

  • enter your postcode
  • enter your mother's maiden name*

If you have an M&S Everyday Savings Account:

  • enter your telephone security number

*If you're using an Apple device, there may be an auto-generated password populated in this field. You can select to choose your own password or delete the auto-generated password and then type in your mother's maiden name.

4. Create your username

You'll now need to create a username you'd like to use, which needs to be a minimum of 5 characters with no spaces.

You should choose something that is unique and easy for you to remember. We recommend that you use just letters and numbers and do not use your email address.

Example:

JohnSmith123

If the username you’ve chosen already exists, you’ll be given some suggested usernames to pick from or you can create a new username.

5. Set up a password and security question

You'll need to create a password and security question to help keep your account safe.

Your password must:

  • be between 8 – 12 characters long
  • not include any punctuation
  • not contain any spaces

Your security question must:

  • be between 6 – 30 characters

Your security question can include the following characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, @ _ - . ? and spaces.

6. Set up your online reset questions

You'll now need to set up some extra online reset questions.

Your online reset questions must:

  • be between 3 – 30 characters

7. Email address

Now all you need to do is tell us your email address. We'll use this to send you important information about your accounts.

At this stage you'll also be asked how you found out about our banking service. You'll just need to choose the relevant option from the drop down.

8. Select your M&S PASS

Lastly, to sign in to Internet Banking you'll need to generate a security code using an M&S PASS. The quickest way to do this is by downloading the M&S Banking App and using the Digital M&S PASS provided within the app. If you don't have a smartphone or tablet you'll need to order a physical M&S PASS by signing into Internet Banking.

9. You're all done!

That's it, you're now successfully registered and are able to log in.
