M&S Bank's Chief Executive, Sue Fox, and Head of Network and Bureaux, Liam O'Hara, share their thoughts on what it's like to work at M&S Bank, and the opportunities for M&S Bank employees.
Sue Fox Chief Executive,
Sue joined M&S Bank as Chief Executive Officer in March 2014 and is responsible for the leadership, strategy and successful growth of the business. She started her career working in her local Midland Bank branch straight from school. Since joining HSBC over 25 years ago, she has held numerous senior roles and was most recently Global Head of Distribution for HSBC's retail business.
“At M&S Bank we have a completely new approach to banking, we call it 'New Fashioned Banking', combining over 130 years in retail with 30 years in financial services, formerly under the M&S Money brand. We pride ourselves on delivering the exceptional levels of customer service that our customers have come to know and expect from M&S. For our employees, this means that they have the time, training, and freedom they need to reach their full potential, enabling them to build long-term, trusting relationships with both customers and colleagues.”
“As CEO, part of my role is about giving our employees every opportunity to be the best that they can be, and so I'm heavily involved in our diversity and inclusion board, ensuring that all our employees feel supported and comfortable to be their whole selves in the environment that they work in.”
Liam O'Hara Head of Network and Bureaux,
Liam is responsible for the M&S Bank branch network and Bureau de Change business, which is located in M&S stores across the country, enabling our customers to bank while they shop, seven days a week, including late in the evenings.
“Having been with the Group since I was a graduate, I have built up a wealth of experience in both network and support functions, and one thing that has remained a constant throughout, is that outstanding customer service is the key to success. This is something we pride ourselves on at M&S Bank, and something I'm pleased to say that we're becoming really well known for.”
“That's because what we do is bring the trusted M&S brand values to banking. We believe that banking with us should be just like shopping with us - refreshingly different and very rewarding. That's why we offer our customers online banking, 24x7 contact centres and longer branch opening hours, so that they're able to bank when it suits them.”
“Throughout my career I have been extremely passionate about people development and working for M&S Bank is no different; if you join our team you can expect your career to be treated with the same care and attention that we give to our valued customers. We invest significant time and resources into our people and implement career development programmes that will help them be the best that they can be, whether that's working in our branch network, our contact centre, or in a support role in our purpose built offices in Chester.”
