Android™ fingerprint log on

Securely log on to the M&S Banking App with your fingerprint.

Android fingerprint log on is now available on most Android devices with a fingerprint sensor, that have the Android 8.0 or above operating system.

If you already have the latest version of our app installed, you'll be invited to enable fingerprint log on with a message when you first open the app. If you skipped past this at the time, you can go back and enable it. Simply click on the menu, select 'Security Settings' and enable fingerprint log on.

FAQs

What is Android fingerprint and how does it work with the app?

Instead of using your password and memorable answer, you can use Android fingerprint, enabled on your device, to log on to the app.

If I have other people's fingerprints stored on my device will they be able to log on to the app?

Yes. If someone can use their fingerprint to unlock your device they'll also be able to access your accounts on our App.

You should only enable Android fingerprint if you're the only person who has registered fingerprints on your device.

You can add or remove fingerprints in your device settings.

How do I disable Android fingerprint?

There are two ways to disable Android fingerprint:

  • go to your device 'Settings' and follow the instructions to delete Android fingerprint supported by your mobile device
  • disable fingerprint log on within the 'Security Settings' menu in our app

I've set up Android fingerprint on the M&S Banking App but it's not working. How do I fix it?

It could be that you've disabled Android fingerprint on your device due to five unsuccessful log on attempts across all apps, or you've had three unsuccessful attempts at logging in to our app.

If so, you'll need to either re-enable Android fingerprint by unlocking your device, or you'll need to log in to the M&S Banking App to re-enable Android fingerprint.
