Use your fingerprint or face to sign in to the M&S Banking App

Your fingerprint and face are excellent security devices; no two are exactly the same and you've always got them with you! If you've got an iPhone, iPad, or Android device with Touch ID or Android™ fingerprint enabled device, you can sign in to the M&S Banking App faster using your fingerprint. Additionally, if you've got an iPhone or iPad with Face ID enabled, you can seamlessly sign in to the mobile banking app using your face.

To set up fingerprint recognition you will need:

  • an Apple iPhone or iPad with a fingerprint sensor (e.g. 5s or above, an iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, or iPad mini 3).
  • an Android device with a fingerprint sensor.

We recommend you also use the most up to date operating system

To set up Face ID you will need:

  • a compatible iPhone or iPad with Face ID functionality (e.g. iPhone X, XS or 10)

We recommend you also use the most up to date operating system

I’ve set up Touch ID/Android fingerprint on the M&S Banking App but it’s not working. How do I fix it?

This depends on whether Touch ID/Android fingerprint has been disabled just for the M&S Banking App, or for your mobile device. You'll need to either re-enable Touch ID on your device by entering your Apple device passcode or unlocking your Android device, or you'll need to log in to the M&S Banking App to re-enable Touch ID/Android fingerprint.

If I have other people’s fingerprints or faces stored on my device will they be able to log on to the app?

Yes. If someone can use their fingerprint or face to unlock your device they'll also be able to access your accounts on our App. You should only enable Touch ID, Face ID or Android fingerprint if you're the only person who has registered fingerprints/face on your device.

Will my fingerprint be stored in the app or elsewhere within M&S Bank?

No. Your fingerprints will not be stored in the M&S Banking App or kept within M&S Bank.

If my fingerprint or face is not recognised, can I still sign in to my accounts?

Yes. You can still sign in to the M&S Banking App using your Digital M&S PASS PIN.
