What is annual travel insurance?

A multi-trip travel insurance policy lasts for one year, so you can enjoy as many trips abroad (up to 31 days per trip as standard) as you like within a 12-month period without having to worry about your insurance. Most policies cover a variety of eventualities, including illness and injury, and cancelling your holiday or coming home early.

Is annual travel insurance right for me?

Got lots of holidays coming up in the next year? Or do you take regular trips to visit a loved one? If you’re a frequent traveller, multi-trip travel insurance is designed for you.

Annual multi-trip travel insurance can be cheaper and easier than taking out multiple single trip policies, making it popular with regular holiday makers and business travellers.

What is covered by annual travel insurance with M&S Bank?

We all expect different things from our travel experiences, and we all have different budgets. That’s why M&S Bank offers flexible insurance policies that can be tailored to you.

Our annual travel insurance policy can cover:

  • Cancelling or coming home early
  • Emergency medical and other expenses
  • Personal money, passport and documents
  • Travel disruption protection
  • Up to £2million personal liability
  • Legal expenses and assistance

For an additional premium, you can add cover for your belongings and winter sports to your annual trip policy.

You’re automatically covered for up to 31 days for each trip you take within the year. This can be extended to 45, 60 or 90 days for longer holidays.

Sport and activity cover

Enjoy an activity packed holiday? Good news: annual travel insurance from M&S Bank covers a variety of sports and activities as standard, so in case of any mishaps, you can rest assured that costs are covered provided the conditions associated with each of the activities are met. All we ask is that you take reasonable precautions to protect yourself against mishaps by using the safety equipment and following any instructions provided.

There are some activities which aren’t covered, these include:

  • Training for, or taking part in a race, competition or tournament
  • Professional sports participation

You can find a full list in the excluded activities section of the M&S Travel Insurance policy document.

To view the full list of activities that can be covered and to find out what conditions apply to each activity, read the M&S Travel Insurance policy document.

If skiing is your thing, multi-trip travel insurance from M&S Bank also offers optional winter sports cover. Winter sports cover offers protection for things such as ski equipment damage, delays caused by an avalanche or a lost lift pass. Winter sports cover comes at an additional premium but allows you to fully embrace the slopes.

Winter sports cover includes:

  • Loss or theft of ski equipment, personal or hired
  • Piste closure
  • Lost lift pass
  • Ski pack
  • Avalanche or landslide

M&S Travel Insurance does not provide cover for:

  • Any event, circumstances or incident you knew about (or were reasonably expected to know about) at the time you booked your trip or purchased your policy (whichever is later).
  • Costs which are recoverable from your travel and/or accommodation provider/agent, your debit/credit card provider, PayPal, ABTA, ATOL or similar.
  • Travelling against Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice. This includes advice or measures put in place by governments and local authorities in the UK or abroad.
