Our history

M&S Bank launched in 2012, on the foundations of M&S Money, which was established more than 35-years ago – as Marks & Spencer Financial Services - to bring the trusted Marks & Spencer brand values to banking. Today, M&S Bank operates as a joint venture arrangement between HSBC and Marks & Spencer. However, M&S Bank has its own banking licence and Board.

Our products

Marks & Spencer Financial Services first launched in April 1985, with the M&S Chargecard, which took a staggering 270,000 applications within the first three weeks. Today, M&S Bank has evolved from a sole card provider to a financial services provider offering a wide range products, specifically designed to meet the needs of the M&S shopper - from the M&S Credit Card, to a range of loans, savings and general insurance products, while its travel money service offers one of the widest ranges of currencies available on the high street.

In 2019, M&S Bank became the official naming partner of the Liverpool Arena.
